Heloisa Melo Benirschke

In 2019, Heloisa joined the Meisner-Kober Group as a Research Assistant, where she contributed to various research projects and laboratory operations. Since September 2025, she has been part of the LBI-NVPM research team as a Senior Research Assistant Technician, where she provides comprehensive technical and operational support in various areas of extracellular vesicle research. In particular, her work focuses on the isolation and purification of exosomes from diverse sources, particularly plant- and animal-based foods, with a strong emphasis on scalability and compliance with future clinical and industrial applications. Her role also includes the physicochemical characterization of exosomes to ensure quality, consistency, and performance in alignment with project goals. 

Following successful completion of the GV-SOLAS Laboratory Animal Course certification, she additionally contributes to in vivo pharmacology and PK/PD studies of EV Therapeutics in preclinical models. Beyond her laboratory responsibilities, she coordinates meetings, facilitates collaboration with research and industry partners, supports community engagement to strengthen the scientific network, collaborates with events for the local community and students.

Before joining the LBI-NVPM team, Heloisa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences – Biology from Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil) in 2006. During her studies, she conducted scientific research in the fields of marine biology and cell biology at the Reference Research Institute for Tropical Diseases (FIOCRUZ).
