Cristiano Pesce

PhD

Cristiano Pesce is a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the LBI-NVPM, where his work focuses on the development of hybrid extracellular vesicles for the delivery of RNA-based therapeutics, as well as on polymeric films designed for the sublingual release of EVs. His research is driven by the goal of improving targeted drug delivery strategies to enhance therapeutic efficacy while minimizing adverse effects.

He received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Padua in 2025. His research focused on developing drug delivery systems across different scales, including biodegradable polymeric implants (microMESH) for sustained drug release in glioblastoma, lipid nanoparticles for gene delivery, and nanomedicines to assess AI-based predictive tools. During his doctoral studies, he worked at the Italian Institute of Technology in Genova (IIT) and at the University Hospital and University of Basel, gaining interdisciplinary and international research experience. He completed his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology in 2021 at the University of Padua (Italy), discussing a thesis focused on the synthesis of polycationic bioconjugates for oligonucleotide delivery carried under the supervision of Prof. Caliceti.
