PANORAMA:UNI Spotlight on Nanovesicles and Precision Medicine
As part of PANORAMA:UNI tenth anniversary edition, Nicole Meisner-Kober and Eva Rohde discussed the future of precision medicine through nanovesicle-based therapies with an engaged audience in Salzburg.
On June 15, 2026, the latest edition of PANORAMA:UNI brought science and society together for an engaging discussion on the future of precision medicine. As part of the lecture series’ tenth anniversary, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nicole Meisner-Kober (Director of LBI-NVPM and Professor for Chemical Biology and Biological Therapeutics at Paris Lodron University Salzburg) and Univ.-Prof. Dr. Eva Rohde (Head Science-Medical Liaison at LBI-NVPM, PMU and SALK) joined science journalist Maria Mayer at the Salzburg City Library for a discussion on “New Precision Medicine: Nanovesicles as Bio-Drones in the Body.”
The speakers explored the opportunities, challenges, and first clinical successes of nanovesicle-based therapies, explaining how these tiny cell-like vesicles may transform future medical practice. By acting as biological “drones,” nanovesicles may enable therapeutic compounds to be delivered efficiently and precisely to their target sites, such as tumors and metastases, while being well tolerated, thereby providing new opportunities for cancer therapy. Intrinsic activities of nanovesicles from human primary cells such as stem cells or breast milk can further be exploited to induce tissue regeneration and self-healing processes, preventing scar formation. The event offered the audience valuable insight into cutting-edge biomedical research and the emerging potential of nanovesicular precision medicine.
