OEaD Science Advocate Program: Inspiring the next generation of scientists!
We were delighted to welcome pupils from HTL Itzling (Salzburg) to the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Nanovesicular Precision Medicine at Paris Lodron University of Salzburg as part of our activities in the OeAD Science Advocate program. The workshop introduced students to the dynamic research field of extracellular vesicles (EVs) through a combination of theory and hands-on laboratory experience.
The day began with an introduction to the biology and biomedical relevance of extracellular vesicles, followed by practical laboratory activities where the students:
- Isolated extracellular vesicles from lemons.
- Performed gel electrophoresis to compare EV protein samples at different concentrations.
- Visited our Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) facility to see how EVs can be visualized at the nanoscale.
By combining scientific concepts with real laboratory techniques, the workshop gave students an authentic insight into biomedical research and the daily work of scientists.

Besonders die praktischen Laborarbeiten und die Möglichkeit, moderne wissenschaftliche Methoden selbst anzuwenden, machten den Workshop zu einem besonderen Erlebnis.
Die ausgezeichnete Organisation, die engagierte Betreuung und die praxisnahe Gestaltung haben wesentlich zum Erfolg dieses Tages beigetragen. Solche Kooperationen bereichern den Unterricht und wecken Interesse an Wissenschaft, Forschung sowie möglichen Studien- und Berufswegen.
