A Warm Welcome to Our New Principal Investigator, Melanie Schürz

Melanie Schürz will head the Research Program Line 3, Nanovesicular Technologies.

In program line 3, we are developing a comprehensive catalog of theralytic methodologies for NV characterization and quality control, their tracking in vivo, and for biomarker discovery. The heterogeneity and small size of EVs demand a novel repertoire of bioanalytical technologies to enable the characterization of NV therapeutics, their tracking in preclinical and clinical settings, and their ultimate quality control. To quote Melanie Schürz:

Vesicle research is an extraordinarily diverse field: on the one hand, it opens up new insights into fundamental mechanisms of cell communication and, at the same time, harbours the potential to play a key role in shaping innovative diagnostic and therapeutic procedures of the future. It is precisely the combination of basic research and strong translational potential that makes it so fascinating to work in this field of research.

Welcome to our team!
